THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CUSTOMS AND EXCISES AND
THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POST AND TELECOMMUNICATION,

Considering:

that in the framework of improving the services and protection of the public interests as well as the protection of the state financial incomes, it is necessary to stipulate a provision on the settlement of goods imported and exported by post.

In view of:

DECIDE:

To stipulate:

JOINT DECREE OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CUSTOMS AND EXCISES AND THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POST AND TELECOMMUNICATION ON THE SETTLEMENT OF GOODS IMPORTED AND EXPORTED BY POST.

Article 1

(1) The settlement of goods imported and exported by post through the state post company of PT Pos Indonesia and the Director General of Customs and Excises.

(2) The settlement as meant in sub-article (1) covers the management of post bags, the imposition of customs for goods imported and exported by post and their supervision.

(3) The Settlement of goods exported by post from Bonded Zones in the Industrial Region of Batam Island sent to other Indonesian custom areas and the settlement of goods imported or exported by post sent, by using Express Mail Service will be separately regulated.

Article 2

The settlement of goods imported and exported in the form of cargo sent by PT Pos Indonesia, is done by PPJK Pos Indonesia in accordance with the existing provision.

Article 3

(1) Goods imported and exported by post are inspected by Customs and Excises Officials.

(2) Goods imported and exported as meant in sub-article (1) needs selective physical inspection by Custom and Excise Officials witnessed by Post Officers.

Article 4

The implementation of the this Joint Decision is further regulated by the Director General of Customs and Excises and the Director General of Post and Telecommunication both jointly or individually.

Article 5

With this Joint Decision effective, so Joint Decision of the Director General of Customs and Excises and the Director General of Post and Telecommunication No. KEP-80a/BC/1997 and No. 208/DIRJEN/1997 dated October 6, 1997 on the Settlement of Goods Imported and Exported by Post is declared not effective.

Article 6

This decision starts to be effective as from the date of stipulation.
